CCTV in hackney carriages/private hire cars? What are your views?

ConsultationRugby Borough Council is undertaking a public consultation with the taxi trade, other agencies and the public on whether CCTV should be installed in hackney carriages (taxis) and private hire cars (minicabs), as a compulsory licence requirement.  This is to prevent crime and help safeguard passengers and drivers.

The background notes and questions can be viewed here along with a list of standards for the CCTV specification.

The consultation will close on the 12th August 2013.

    I think cctv in taxis and private hire is a good thing as it will stop the driver over charging and customer attacking the driver (like the woman) when they have had to much to drink as the bars do not care if people drink too much.
