Learning Disability Needs Assessment

*Last few days to have your say*

The Learning Disabilities Needs Assessment helps us find out what kind of services people with learning disabilities need locally.

Health Services, the council and other groups collect information about people with learning disabilities in Warwickshire.

This includes lots of information such as:

  • What services are needed in different areas
  • What people’s health needs are
  • How many people with learning disabilities live in Warwickshire
  • What things are important to make Warwickshire a good place to live if you have a learning disability

This needs assessment will include the views of our customers and their families, professionals and support workers and will form part of the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.

We want people with a learning disability and their carers to live their life the way they want to and to be involved in decisions about how services are provided and delivered.

The information collected by this needs assessment will help us to write an All Age Disability Strategy for people with learning disabilities and their families which will provide a clear plan for support and services in Warwickshire for the next four years.

  • Professional or support worker who works with and provides support and services to people with learning disabilities

  • Completing this survey
  • Phone 01926 742360 and ask for a form to be sent to you.
  • Talking to someone – if you prefer to talk to someone, please phone Rita Ansell, Intelligence Analyst on 01926 742360 who will be able to help you.

Would somebody from WCC PLEASE take a look at this consultation document and read it as if you are a service user!! It has taken me over an hour to wade thought it. There are 60 questions which will put off all but the most committed responder. There are questions that make absolutely no sense and worse still, the are questions that apply to only a certain audience but SURVEY MONKEY will not let you move on in the questionnaire unless you DO answer the question. This will make the analysis of the replies to the questionnaire absolutely meaningless. Your questions are repetitive; having answered twice or so, I didn’t have the will to write my comments again and again. So many people will run out of steam half way through or not want to even start – I don’t know how to encourage people that they really should complete this if they need to make their voices heard!

If you are serious about asking us our views, ask us questions that are simple and get to the heart of the service as we feel them and don’t as us questions that are only meaningful to officers with their head in strategy and high level service commissioning. My daughter, with severe learning difficulties , needs parents, professionals and people with learning difiulties who have a perspective of this topic to make their views heard. It’s a shame you have made it so difficult for them to do so.

  2. Dear Jill,

Thank you for taking the time to complete our survey – this is greatly appreciated and I am sorry you found it difficult.

It would be useful to understand the specific issues which have caused you difficulty and I have tried to call you this morning. The issue that I hope I have now addressed, is that I have removed the requirement to answer some questions that may not be applicable to all.

This survey is designed to inform officers to help them write our new strategy and to commission services. You and your daughter are helping to contribute towards that and we value your input. Please feel free to give me, Rita Ansell, a call at any time on 01926 742360 or email ritaansell@warwickshire.gov.uk. However, I will continue to try and get in touch with you to ensure that the survey is a positive experience for others.

    Many thanks for your time.
    Rita Ansell

The font in this survey is very very difficult to read.
