Shaping the Future: Let’s Talk

To try and help everyone understand the scale of the financial challenge faced by Warwickshire County Council over the next four years, the council has launched an online budget calculator and Council Leader Cllr Izzi Seccombe will be taking part in a series of roadshows from today to meet residents to talk about the situation.

Cllr Seccombe last month announced that the local authority was seeking to make further savings of £92m from its already stretched budgets by 2018.

Cllr Seccombe talked about starting a conversation with local people about the decisions that need to be made to shape the future of the council.  This conversation has begun and is taking different forms to encourage as many people to engage as possible and is known as ‘Let’s Talk’.

The first stage of ‘Let’s Talk’ was the launch of a budget calculator available at until 31 October. The tool enables residents to see how the council’s base budget is spent and invites them to suggest how they think money could be saved. A paper version is also available here. Please feel free to share this document with colleagues and customers.

In addition to the calculator the roadshows which will take place in town centre locations around the county start on Monday 21 October. A poster with the schedule for these sessions can be viewed here. Please can you assist us to ensure as many people as possible are aware of these events by displaying the poster in any public facing areas.
